What is Mind Your Mate?

Researchers at The University of Sydney have developed a new online program + mobile app to help young people better support their friends, when their friends may be facing tough times.

what IS the pilot STUDY ABOUT?

From mid-2020 to mid-2022 we ran a trial of the Mind your Mate app in 12 high schools with Year 9 students.

The study found that students who took part in the program had significant reductions in depression symptoms, compared to students who received normative health education.

WHAT’s OUR NEXT STEP?

A new version of Mind your Mate is currently being developed. The updated program will include a new four-lesson online module to be delivered in a classroom setting. This module was co-designed with young people and field experts.

In the next phase, a study will be conducted to evaluate the new program across Australian high schools. If you wish to learn more about the program and/or get involved in future trials, get in touch!
